Fall 2023 Updates and Interesting Notes

Whew! I’ve let a few seasons pass this year without composing a newsletter! This summer was full of new experiences: new festivals, shows, and art fairs. It’s been great to get my work out to different audiences and talk with folks about the pieces. And yet, it feels good to get to Fall and some concentrated studio time to focus on new work and new experiments. The piece above, Bear Hug, was exhibited during September in Western Visions at the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, WY.

This summer I finished Raven Calling, a concept I’ve been developing for a little while. This is the first bird piece I’ve made with the carved branch finish and I am excited at the results.

I’m pleased to share that it along with a few other pieces are currently at Kay Contemporary on Canyon Road in Santa Fe, NM.

On the workbench are experiments with smaller pieces and new ideas including these two frogs.

And more color experiments. To the right are variations on a theme as I change one variable at a time in layering colors on this batch of test tiles.
